The classic Sassoon Box
Bob shape inspired this
look. Geometric lines
provide understated
chic, while concealed
layered panels through
the sides give the cut a
slim feeling. A pixilation
color technique creates
a beam of laser light on
a dark, seductive base.
Laser Show
The Sassoon Academy revisits classic Sassoon
shapes that dominated hair design in the 1970s.
The Laser Collection, new for autumn/winter 2009, was inspired by the
airbrushed cyber-vixens of Philip Castle and Michael English, England’s post-pop
pioneers, and the erotic flamboyance of fashion designer Antony Price. Cuts
revisit the Firefly and Box Bob—heavy panels of hair in triangular-shaped sections
are combined with the precision technique of modern undercutting to create a
sense of exaggerated depth and surface shine. Meanwhile, colors are painted in
laser lines to accentuate the detail of the cuts. —MARIANNE DOUGHERT Y >
