PICK!
Light My Fire
Perhaps it’s because it reminds
us of the warmth and serenity of
a beautiful Tuscan evening, or maybe it’s because
we’re hooked on its stylish appearance and
delicious, long-lasting aroma. Whatever the reason,
the American Salon team has a burning desire for
Arrojo’s new Black Fig & Cocoa Candle. —K.D.
A History of Beauty
The concept of beauty dates back much earlier than the often-
referenced ancient Egyptian era of Cleopatra and Nefertiti,
according to 100,000 Years of Beauty (Gallimard, 2009), a five-
volume book collection commissioned by the L’Oréal Corporate
Foundation. With contributions from 300 leading international
experts practicing disciplines as diverse as archaeology,
philosophy, art criticism and sociology, the beautifully
illustrated series traces the
history of beauty from its
origins in the earliest human
society to the modern
era of globalization, in
addition to predicting
beauty innovations of
future generations.

Transfer tattoos, first spotted on the Chanel spring 2010
catwalk, will be the definitive status symbol for fashionistas this
season. Now the haute couture house’s limited-edition skin
art—a collection of whimsical bead, bangle and floral designs
created by Global Creative Director Peter Philips—is available
to the masses, too. Dubbed Les Trompe L’Oeil de Chanel, each
$75 package of the temporary skin art contains five sheets and
55 designs. C’est très chic! chanel.com —K.D.

Fragrance
You’d never guess
that this chic little flower
is actually a fragrance
diffuser, thanks to
Fruits & Passion’s
innovative design. The
diffuser’s stem soaks up the
liquid fragrance from the ceramic
vase, while the elegant wooden petals
steadily emit a floral scent that lasts
up to eight weeks. The Decorative
Diffuser includes a vase and a choice
of three flower colors—natural, coral and
plum—to complement any decor. fruitsandpassion.com —B.F.
When Cora Rosen created her Obtaining Moksha jewelry collection, she
wanted to design a line that would both look good and serve a spiritual
purpose. “When we wear something that represents what we aspire
to be, become or connect to, it is a subtle yet strong reminder that at
any moment we can cultivate that
change to be who we want,” Rosen
says. Her Inspire Collection features
stackable sterling silver rings
engraved with motivational Sanskrit
words: moksha (liberation), parinama
(transformation), shanti (peace) and
virya (strength). Ten percent of all
jewelry sales go to a charitable organization that aids animals, children
and families. obtainingmoksha.com —L.M.
