Belle Epoque
“Thirty years ago I was 19 and had lofty desires of becoming the
next Vidal Sassoon,” says Belle Epoque owner Rusty Phillips,
who also had a vision of owning a successful salon. In 2005 that
dream became a reality. Phillips attributes much of the salon’s
success to its weekly team meetings, which focus on goals,
guest services and creating a culture that supports the stylists and
helps them provide clients with an extraordinary experience. The
1,850-square-foot salon is described as having an urban, loftlike
atmosphere, featuring hardwood floors, an open beamed ceiling
and a color scheme that incorporates varying shades of green and
salmon accents. The salon’s location in the city inspired its name.
“The word refers to a time period in late 18th century France when
they had a development of art and culture,” Phillips says. “The
name was perfect for the Crossroads Arts District because it is an
area where there is a concentration of art galleries.”

Shampagne Hair Studio +
Beauty Lounge
“We provide a place where our clients feel comfortable to relax
and just hang out,” Shampagne owner Kristine Kay says. “It’s
like a beauty lounge for clients to get away from the mad rush
of daily life.” The 3,000-square-foot salon, which opened in
2008, offers cut and color services, manicures, pedicures, facials,
waxing and massages. Shampagne’s airy, sunlit space boasts an
old-world decor that exudes a warm vibe to match the salon’s
laid-back attitude. To complement the calming earth tone shades
of blue, green and brown, the salon features natural elements such
as bamboo, teak wood and green onyx, along with handcrafted
items from Morocco, Tuscany and Bali. The salon, whose name
is a combination of the words “champagne” and “shampoo,”
hosts monthly events such
as Makeup & Margaritas,
Ladies Night Out and
Bingo Night. “When the
events are interactive,
clients mingle and make
new friends,” Kay says.
“That creates a sense of
belonging and strengthens
our bond with clients.”
