To create this romantic style, Doughty blow-dried hair with Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Sculpting Foam before using the Express Ion Curl 1.0 to horizontally set it. Hair was then brushed into delicate waves with a 413 Sculpting Brush and sealed with Extra- Body Finishing Spray.

Here Come
The Brides
When it comes to creating hair
looks for a bride’s big day, Paul
Mitchell Editorial Director Lucie
Doughty suggests hairstylists
follow these rules of the road.
1recommend that engaged clients book a trial
appointment or two with you in
the salon before the wedding
day. “this gives you and the bride
plenty of opportunities to explore
different hair options and decide
what really works,” doughty
says. “and be sure the bride-to-be brings in the hair accessory,
headpiece or veil she’s wearing
so that there are no hair surprises
on the big day.”
2keep in mind your bride’s personal style: is she
traditional, funky, modern or
classic? “as a stylist, it’s your job
to understand who your client is
and translate the vision she has
for her hair on the special day,”
doughty says.
3cut and color hair one to two weeks before the wedding
so the hair has a chance to settle
into the cut.
4ask to see a picture of the bride’s dress so you can
select a corresponding hair
design. “if the dress has a high
neck design or is very ornate
at the shoulders and décolleté
area, the stylist will want to
know this so they can create an
appropriate look for the hair,”
doughty explains. By the same
token, if the dress has a plunging
neck or back there will be more
freedom with the style that can
be created.
5stylists should be prepared with essentials like tools,
styling products, pins, grips,
bands, extensions and anything
else needed to create gorgeous
hair on the wedding day. “i
also like to give my brides a
little goody bag of Paul Mitchell
awapuhi Wild ginger shine
spray and Finishing spray, plus a
few bobby pins for touch ups, if
needed,” doughty says.
